Soap Stash has opened at 6 West Lafayette in a long vacant space. Please go visit them! Here's some of the story behind this new Trenton business and what the UEZ had to do with it.
Trenton UEZ is a jobs program. Our goal is to increase job opportunities in Trenton. While the Trenton UEZ improves commercial corridors and promotes UEZ businesses, we also do several programs that directly attract businesses
One of the projects the UEZ was involved in was the Business Plan competition. Businesses submitted business plans and a panel of judges reviewed them. The top three plans were awarded months worth of rent once they signed a lease downtown.
Isles, Inc ran the program--shout out to Chris Shimchick. The NPP program (administered by Isles) paid part of the rent award, and the Trenton UEZ paid the other part.
The first winner to open is Soap Stash, at 6 West Lafayette. Amanda from the TDA and Chris did a lot of work with Soap Stash in the days before they opened.
This is one example of how the Trenton UEZ is helping Trenton locals realize their business dreams.
